Neighborhood-wide Neighborhood Watch Group Forming

On Saturday, 11/10, approximately 35 Greenfielders met at Magee Rec Center with Officer Matt White of Pittsburgh's Zone 4 (Squirrel Hill) Station to talk about establishing a Neighborhood Watch group. Residents who attended the meeting agreed to form a group that will include all of Greenfield. Having earlier met in May to talk about the need for the Neighborhood Watch, neighbors at the recent meeting agreed that it's now time to move ahead and start setting up the Watch.

On Saturday, December 12th, a dozen neighbors who have volunteered to act as leaders will have a working meeting at the Rec Center from 1:00-2:00. In the weeks leading up to the meeting, volunteers will also be visiting neighbors on their street to sign people up for a phone chain that will be used to alert neighbors to problems (e.g., crimes, acts of vandalism) in the neighborhood.

Any residents who are interested in taking an active role to help make the Neighborhood Watch a success are encouraged to attend. For more information or to join the Neighborhood Watch, contact Bill Smith at the Greenfield Organization at 412/422-8885 or bill.smith@greenfieldorg.com
