Connect Greenfield in concert with the Greenfield Organization is creating a new Adopt-a-Block program to help keep Greenfield free of litter and debris. The purpose of this program is to tap community interest in the stewardship of Greenfield's streets, steps and open spaces by providing an opportunity for residents and businesses to assist in maintaining and enhancing the look and utility of the neighborhood's local streets, public stairways and open spaces.
As a participant you would be asked to:
- Pick up or otherwise attend to your adopted street, steps or public space at least twice a month (more often if needed)
- Use Giant Eagle grocery bags (white for trash/weeds and blue for recyclables) and gloves (to be provided).
- Dispose of the bags using public trash receptacles or your regular city trash pickup
- Track the number of bags you fill for reporting each month
We also ask that you consider sweeping, shoveling snow, removing paper signs from telephone poles, and cleaning up leaves, as appropriate or as need and time warrant.
Should you need additional help in picking up an unusually large amount of trash or litter we will have a Greenfield SWAT (Stop Whining About Trash) team available to assist.
