The Kretchmann Farm

Sign up now, delivery starts May 29th, 2007

Great news! Kretschmann Organic Farm has agreed to begin weekly deliveries of organic produce to Greenfield this spring if 15 families/individuals in our neighborhood sign up. Please see below for details about the service, cost, & registration. This is a wonderful opportunity to support a local farm and have your cupboards and fridge full of yummy organic produce all summer long!

What Is Grown?
The variety of products raised is probably wider than that provided by any other western PA organic grower and ranges from vegetables in season to apples, cider, fresh herbs, blueberries and strawberries. It's a lot like eating out of your garden! Typically, what is included early in the season would be spinach, lettuce, strawberries, onions, beets, fresh herbs, kale.... Midsummer you'd see peppers, tomatoes, new potatoes, broccoli, sweet corn, blueberries, lettuce, squash.... Late season would bring apple cider, spinach, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, beets, cauliflower.... In the fall, larger quantities of potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and beets are delivered, which can be stored for later use.

When Are Deliveries?
Every week from the first of June to Thanksgiving subscribers receives a box of produce containing whatever is in season. Delivery days are Tuesday through Friday, depending on location.

How Much Produce Will I Receive?
There are three sizes of "shares" available:
Small--produce sufficient for a household of two adults and one or two small children
Medium--for families with two adults and two older children.
Large--for families with several teen children or vegetarian families. (For single people we also offer a small size every second week.)
It is a small matter to change share sizes in mid-season if you desire.

How Much Does It Cost?
The cost depends on which of the following options you choose.

Size share Deposit now Due June 1 Due Aug. 17
-Small @$20/week $75 $225 $200
-Medium @$24/week$75 $275 $250
-Large @$28/wk. $75 $325 $300
Delivery every other week (1/2 small share) are also available for a $30 surcharge.

With your produce, Kretschmann supplies a weekly newsletter sharing a little of what is happening on the farm, what to expect in the following weeks, and simple recipes for preparing what's in season

How Can I Sign Up?
To learn more about Kretschmann's, or to sign up for delivery, go to www.kretschmannfarm.com. When you register, please also email Connect Greenfield (info@connectgreenfield.com) so that we can keep track of how many people are signing up, and be sure to mention "Greenfield" when you subscribe so that your signup counts toward the 10-15 needed to get a delivery in Greenfield.

Where will I pick up my produce?
If we get 10-15 families to sign up in Greenfield, Kretschmann has agreed to deliver to a central location in Greenfield TBD. An ideal drop-off point would be a porch or garage that requires climbing no more than 3 or 4 steps & that can be accessed through the day and into the evening. The street should be wide enough for the delivery truck to navigate easily. The Kretschmanns will need to check any drop-off spot to give it their ok. If you would like to volunteer to be the drop off location, please contact info@connectgreenfield.com. If too few families sign up this year, the pick up point will be in Squirrel Hill.
